Commute.fyi is a web application that monitors your commute times using live traffic data, providing percentile-based trends and real-time updates.
How does it work?
The app polls traffic APIs at regular intervals to collect commute duration data, then analyzes patterns to show you percentile trends for different times of day and days of the week.
What do the percentiles mean?
The chart shows different percentile lines: Min/Max represent the fastest and slowest commutes observed, while Avg (50th percentile) shows typical travel times. P10 and P90 show the 10th and 90th percentiles for logged-in users.
How often is data updated?
Data refreshes every 10 minutes automatically. Live observations are collected based on the polling interval set for each route (default 60 seconds).
Is my data private?
Yes, all commute data is stored securely and is only accessible to you. Location data is used solely for traffic calculations and is not shared with third parties.
How do I add a new route?
Log in and use the "Add New Route" feature in the sidebar. Enter your start and end addresses, and the app will begin monitoring that route automatically.
Having issues with the app?
If the app isn't updating properly or behaving unexpectedly, you can reset it completely. This will clear all cached data and reload the page.
